Lapis lazuli from Afghanistan has been prized since ancient times, and the reason for this is apparent when viewing this gorgeous sphere. The characteristic "electric" royal blue is abundant, but, in this case, circular bands of white Calcite and brassy fleck Pyrite ring this sphere, giving it a planetary appearance. At over 2.5 inches (6.6 cm) in diameter, this piece is roughly baseball sized. This lapidary object would be an excellent accent piece for any décor or even a focal point of any room.
