Copal is tree resin, but, unlike its Amber counterpart, it is not fossilized. While it can be ancient by some standards, it is not prehistoric. However, Copal shares many characteristics with Amber and can contain inclusions making certain specimens interesting and collectible. This clear example from Madagascar has several inclusions of insects suspended in the fairly sizable piece. This is a fine representation for Copal.
