Known for her light-infused landscapes, portraits, and still life scenes, Emma Richardson Cherry was a Texas artist who studied at the Art Institute in Chicago and the Art Students League of New York under such masters as William Merritt Chase. She studied and exhibited in Italy and France, training at the Academie Julian in Paris and also with Luc-Olivier Merson. Settling in Houston in 1893, Cherry was active in art circles and frequently exhibited her work, earning several awards over the course of her career.
Condition Report*:
There appears to be no major visible condition issues to note; under UV light, the signature is possibly strengthened and there appears to be tiny touches of inpaint in sky, most notable above tallest tower at center. Framed Dimensions 13.5 X 15.5 Inches
