Launched in 1927, the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano is a four-masted barquentine of the Spanish Navy. Named in honor of the captain of the expedition who, after the death of Ferdinand Magellan, completed the first circumnavigation of the globe in 1522. The four masts of the famed brigantine-schooner are named for each ship in the original Magellen-Elcano expedition.
