Renowned for an abundance of mineral wealth, Sri Lanka produces some of the world's most coveted gemstone varieties. This Rose Quartz sphere/cabochon is no exception, though it stands apart from the standard ubiquitous variety. Expertly cut to highlight the mesmerizing phenomenon of asterism, this example reveals a sharp six-rayed star when viewed with a pinpoint light source. A soft pink hue enhances the allure, adding depth to the already enchanting stone. Cut and polished all the way around, the sphere showcases a striking interplay of light with subtle asymmetry that does not detract from the asterism-undoubtedly the true star of the show.
