This complete associated "spine" from Edaphosarus is a rare find and evidences only minor restoration on the vertebra and processes. The early large plant-eating synapsid had a fin on its back similar to the apex predator Dimetrodon, although different in shape and form. This fossil remnant from the Texas Permian is rather amazing for a modest size. Presented on a custom armature, this oddity is a conversation piece.
