This unusual and intriguing sphere consists of an orb about the size of a croquet ball that has been hewn out of opaque Libyan Desert Glass. The greenish-yellow example displays a smooth surface over most of the exterior which does feature several natural crevices and indentations of various depths adding a full measure of character to the swirling globe. The 'raw material' for this lapidary item was a massive piece of the impactite that was the result of a meteorite that impacted the earth. This is an atypical specimen.
