NWA 13119 Lunar Meteorite End Cut
Lunar (feldspathic breccia)
Mauritania
Found: 2019

A truly spectacular specimen, this large end cut of NWA 13119 is exceptionally thick and seriously aesthetic. This exquisite meteorite represents lunar material - yes, this is a piece of the Moon! Weighing a massive 1.03 kilograms (2.27 pounds), this is an enormous example, especially considering the total amount of all lunar material on Earth is only several hundred pounds. This offering is a real classic exhibiting attributes of feldspathic breccia composition in superb form. Abundant grayish-white clasts cover the polished and dramatic primary display surface of this superior representation. The smooth surface measures a stout 8 inches (20 cm) in length, and the colossal slab features a natural, rugged and complex exterior which has all the visual characteristics of a top lunar meteorite. The best of both worlds - from another world - is a phenomenal specimen worthy of any collection. From the relatively huge size of some of the clasts to its rocky edges, the slice is an incredible singular combination of big size, museum quality, and visual appeal.
Measurements: 8.07 x 5.12 x 1.19 inches (20.50 x 13.00 x 3.03 cm), weighs 1,032.7 grams
