The Gebel Kamil Meteorite has several interesting designations, including being a rare "crater-forming" example, classification as an ataxite variety, and containing the minerals Kamacite and Schreibersite. A classic specimen of the type, this flame-like shrapnel piece weighs 755 grams and exhibits the coppery reddish coloration so associated with material from the Egyptian locality. Found in 2009, the meteorite is thought to have fallen several thousand years ago. This fine representation features a bronze patina, an outstanding shape, and a "brushed" texture consistent with the journey from Outer Space to Earth.
