Description

Petrified Hermanophyton Slab
Hermanophyton taylorii
Jurassic
Morrison Formation, Brushy Basin Member
East McElmo Creek, Cortez, Colorado, USA

This relatively small slab of Petrified Wood makes a big statement as Hermanophyton is considered by many as the most collectible variety of the type. This material is rare, unique and beautiful making it very highly prized among collectors. Dating to the Jurassic, this slab has been polished to highlight the core patterning that resembles a kaleidoscope and perfectly represents the structure of the original wood. This slice is a classic and is simply captivating to view. The color palette is quite neutral, but the contrast between light and dark results in an artistic combination. This piece should attract collectors in droves.
