Description
Fossil Shark with FishEurypholis bossier
Late Cretaceous
Byblos, Lebanon
This rare and beautifully preserved fossil shark specimen of Eurypholis bossieri is shown in near-complete articulation, with the skin, fins, and overall body outline clearly visible. The irregularly shaped Limestone matrix enhances its natural presentation, providing a dynamic and authentic display surface. Shark fossils of this quality are exceptionally uncommon, as cartilaginous skeletons typically decay before fossilization occurs. The family Scyliorhinidae, to which Eurypholis belongs, inhabited the seafloor of warm Cretaceous Seas at a time when dinosaurs dominated the land. All specimens within the slab are completely natural to the stone, prepared without restoration, preserving the integrity of this remarkable find. An outstanding and scientifically significant fossil from the Byblos deposits of Lebanon, illustrating the delicate preservation possible within this world-renowned marine formation.
Overall Measurements: 24.00 x 21.50 x 0.75 inches (60.96 x 54.61 x 1.90 cm)
