Surrounded by a book louse, a fly, and a midge, this specimen of Burmite weighing 1.6 grams has a singular and stupendous, exceedingly rare adult cockroach as the 'star' of this ancient diorama. As roaches go, they are not uncommon in Amber, but examples of this quality most certainly are, and most are nymphs rather than full-size adults. The preservation, even for a trapped insect in Amber, is exceptional, with every part of the big roach intact and the fossil being virtually three-dimensional within the suspension. The piece has a cabochon form with a flat bottom and outstanding clarity. The size of the "bug' relative to the dimensions of the Amber makes this one excellent display item. From the Hukwang Valley in Myanmar, the representation is also phenomenal under magnification.
