Scepter Quartzes are characterized by two different generations of Quartz: the first grows as your typical Quartz point, in this case being a deep smoky color with fine texturing on the surface. The second generation grows as a "cap" at the top of the original termination, wider but still pointed and well terminated, and in this case with a much lighter color and higher degree of transparency. What we have just described is the signature habit of the Hallelujah Junction area, where the finest smoky Quartz scepters are found. This is a singularly large example, at over 20 centimeters tall, with a classic "wizard wand" look and great presentation.
