Michael Frary attended college at University of Southern California, where he graduated with a degree in architecture and a Master of Fine Arts degree. In 1949, Frary moved to San Antonio to serve as the artist-in-residence and faculty chairman at the Marion Koogler McNay Museum. In 1955, he accepted a faculty position at the University of Texas in Austin. In 1970, he was awarded full professorship, and in 1986, the artist was named Professor Emeritus of Art. Frary moved freely between realism and abstraction, watercolor and oil, landscape and figure.
Condition Report*:
Framed under glass. Buckling to the sheet visible along the top edge. Minor handling creases visible in raking light. A few scattered faint spots of foxing visible under close inspection.
