PROVENANCE:
Private collection, Palmdale, California, acquired circa 1920s-1930s;
Thence by descent.
Condition Report*:
Lined canvas. Mild frame abrasion at edges. Horizontal stretcher bar mark faintly visible near upper edge under raking light. Slight yellowing to the varnish layer. Faint, finely patterned craquelure throughout. A very few scattered small dots of accretion, some appearing to be errant paint. Minor surface dirt and dust. Not examined out of frame due to size.
Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Brushy retouching in lower right corner, not appearing to affect the signature. A few scattered areas of brushy retouching to the figure's costume, particularly to her proper right sleeve.
