The present work is a faithful copy (likely Italian) of Vigée Le Brun's 1790 Self-Portrait on canvas in the collection of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, Rome. Interestingly, the sitter's features are somewhat less delicate and more Italian in appearance in the copy, and the garment is grey-green rather than blue as it is in the original.
