This type of reeded decoration was a signature style of Soloviev, from whom a number of works in this pattern appear. A two-color gold lighter made for Fabergé was sold Dorotheum Vienna, May 16, 2011, lot 00875, and was subsequently in the London trade. And is now in the McFerrin Collection, Houston, and illustrated Tillander-Godenhielm, "Fabergé: The Twilight Years", p. 144.

Recent research indicates that this was part of a series of at least six similar pencils.
