The present work was likely a proposed design for a painting commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company. Its composition is reminiscent of two photographs in the Ford Motor Company archives: the first shows Henry Ford in a soybean suit sitting in a field on his 78th birthday, and the second shows Henry Ford and Henry Ford II standing and looking over a model of the Ford Rouge plant.
