Howard Chandler Christy was tasked by the United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission to illustrate the signing of the constitution, a defining moment in American history. The finished work, measuring 20 by 30 feet, hangs in the House of Representatives wing of the Capital Building, Washington, D.C.

Condition Report*:
Unlined canvas; there appears to be light overall surface grime with a few small accretions and a few cracks in areas where pigment is thicker; frame wear with a few abrasions and accretions along extreme edges; under UV exam, there does not appear to be any previous restoration. Framed Dimensions 42.5 X 52.5 Inches
