The Chickering reproducing piano with Model B Ampico mechanism introduced in 1929 with a very limited production, drawer beneath keyboard opens to insert music rolls, art case in figured walnut veneer with three scroll footed cabriole legs carved at knee with scroll and ribbon design framing a floral inlaid cartouche, decorative scroll with carved flowers continue along lower edge of case, shaped integral music easel with carved and inlaid cartouche, associated bench with carved cabriole legs measuring 18.75" x 36" x 15.375", together with fifty-eight music rolls in a wide variety of genres from classical to folk and a selection of AMICA Bulletins.
The piano was purchased by Clare Stern for the opulent lobby of the Claremont Hotel, Dallas.
Condition Report*:
case in very good condition with minor imperfections comprising lifting of finish just above concave base molding to right of keyboard and to the left far side a deep scratch to the veneer.
The piano has been serviced by a single specialist for the last thirty years. It was initially rebuilt 30 years ago after its purchase in California, then was completely gone over a second time 10 years ago. While to the knowlege of the specialist and owner, the piano is in working order, it is being sold as is.
