Condition Report*:
On stable Masonite support. Frame abrasion at edges. Slivers of original canvas visible at left edge. Yellowing to the varnish layer. Surface dirt and dust. Finely patterned craquelure, apparently stabilized beneath the varnish layer. A few scattered dots of darkened accretion. Not examined out of frame.
Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Brushy retouching in the sky and at edges. Brushy strengthening applied to the shadows on the ground, those of the sheep, and to the boy's hair. Some additional, more finely applied retouching to the boy's face and body.
