To find this kind of color in Elbaite is a rare thing, particularly from a locality not known to produce hues like this in Elbaite! This wide, single crystal is consistently colored with a deep pink tone, almost purple in some parts of the prism, darker and more rich than the vast majority of specimens that are found in this area. Backlighting will make this color even more intense. Interestingly, there even appears to be a pale purple zone towards the top-end of the prism, imparting on the Elbaite a cotton-candy effect. This specimen is quite old, having been discovered back in the 1990s. The termination is beautifully shiny, with a gemmy layer that glows in the light and gives this area depth, and there is only minor bruising on these edges. The backside appears to be etched, giving this side a chatoyant effect, accentuated by the many vertical striations. This specimen has no repairs or restorations, and comes with a custom milled acrylic base.
