Similar to the previous lot, pallasites are the most sought-after meteorites, and this dazzling complete slice amply reveals why. Containing a spectacular mosaic of olivine and peridot crystals suspended in its polished nickel-iron matrix, this is a select complete slice of a pallasite with a full rim of fusion crust. Found in the Atacama Desert in Chile, the highest desert on Earth, the source material has been thoroughly excavated, and it has become more difficult to obtain complete slices of what is inarguably some the most resplendent extraterrestrial material known to exist. 168 x 99 x 3 mm ( 6 1/2 x 4 x 1/8 inches) and 145 grams (1/3 pound).
