Description

Hematite
Dom Bosco, Cachoeira do Campo, Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
6.7 x 5.4 x 2.5 cm (2.6 x 2.1 x 1.0 in)

This is an extremely striking and massive example of the classic Hematite "Iron Roses" from the village of Dom Bosco. The aggregate is composed of distinct sub-parallel growths of bladed Hematite crystals that are neatly arranged around the specimen's epicenter. Each of these crystals are highly reflective and have a silvery-grey color; the edges, however, differ from the rest of the specimen with subtle rust-red tones, a matte luster, and a well-defined book-like shape.

More Information: This piece is in excellent condition with minor bruising along the edges.
