A New York artist, Paul King was highly regarded in the art community, winning top awards for his work at the Salmagundi Club. Initially apprenticed to a lithography studio, he studied fine art at the Art Students League of Buffalo and the New York Art Students League under Henry S. Mowbray. As a student, he created illustrations for Life and Harper's. King also studied in Holland with Willy Sluiter, Evert Pieters and Bernard Bloomers from 1905-06. He is best known for his impressionistic renderings of Northeastern landscapes and harbor scenes.

Very good condition; canvas has been reinforced with lining; light retouching and some lifting in upper right corner and along upper edge.
