Greg Hildebrandt, often working with his twin brother Tim, is renowned for his iconic fantasy and sci-fi illustrations, particularly for The Lord of the Rings calendars and the 1977 Star Wars movie poster. His vivid, detailed art has influenced generations of fans and artists. Since 1999, Hildebrandt has become a significant figure in the modern pin-up scene as well, with his American Beauties series.

Silk Stockings, one of the earliest from this series, creates unexpected drama with the inclusion of a partially unseen cameraman to the left of the brunette femme fatale.

The work was exhibited as part of Hildebrandt's solo exhibition at the Louis K. Meisel Gallery.
