Charoite only comes from a single locality in Russia and is getting harder to find. This sphere, hewn out of the attractive mineral variety, is a fairly good size, measuring over 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, and features the classic hues of purple and black which swirl mysteriously around the entirety of the sphere. This lapidary piece exhibits a visual dynamism of both movement and depth across the rather highly saturated example.
