Lustrous, vivid cherry red to reddish-orange prismatic Realgar crystals are scattered across a contrasting light gray matrix. The larger striated, doubly terminated crystals reach up to 3.1 centimeters in length, with many much smaller Realgar crystals sprinkled about the matrix to accent the bigger crystals. The crystals are clustered toward one end of the matrix, which creates a focal point and enhances the attractive presentation of the piece. The No. 5 Mine in Baia Sprie, Romania is a classic locality for Realgar and this specimen is a great example of the material.
