An extraordinary example of monumental scale, this impressive Smoky Quartz originates from the storied gem deposits of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Weighing a remarkable 492.15 carats, the oval-shaped gemstone commands attention with both its size and artistry. The stone is expertly fashioned with intricate, fantasy-brilliant faceting, forming an elegant lotus-inspired motif that radiates across the pavilion. This sophisticated cutting style enhances depth and dimensionality while producing lively scintillation and excellent brilliance. The Quartz displays an attractive light yellowish brown bodycolor, warm and evenly distributed, complementing its expansive face-up presence. Given its substantial proportions, the pavilion is necessarily deep, resulting in some windowing consistent with stones of this scale. The gem remains eye-clean, with only a few minor nicks along the girdle noted; otherwise, it presents in excellent overall condition. The creation of such a showpiece required a substantial, clean, and transparent crystal of exceptional quality. Impressive in both origin and execution, this Smoky Quartz stands as a striking collector's specimen and a testament to the lapidary's skill.
