The Azurite crystals of this piece aggregate in minor rosette clusters across the front of the matrix. Being a secondary Copper mineral, this specimen also has some associations of Malachite around the outer surface, primarily on the right side of the display and the back side of the specimen. Running from the top to the bottom of the specimen, there is a lighter blue seam of Azurite that has a softer appearance than the surrounding crystals. The seam goes into and fully lines a deep cavity near the top of the specimen, giving the piece a dimensional focal point. The lighter Azurite is highlighted by dark blue Azurite on the outer edges with a contrasting rust orange matrix. Parts of the matrix on the back are coated in black associations that are most likely Manganese oxides.
