BaryteOjuela Mine, MapimÃ, Mapimà Municipality, Durango, Mexico
18.7 x 10.6 x 9.2 cm (7.36 x 4.17 x 3.62 in)
The front side of this specimen features a shallow ravine that is nearly filled with sprays of thin, blade-like Baryte crystals. The crystals reach up to 1.4 centimeters in length and display a tan to light honey color with a soft luster under normal lighting. Under shortwave UV light, the Baryte fluoresces a strong white and briefly phosphoresces afterwards. A thin backdrop of fine, glittering Calcite druse is visible behind portions of the Baryte sprays.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
