The present work is a preliminary work up for the paperback Salvage And Destroy by Edward Llewellyn (DAW, 1984). The final version of the work depicts the same figure with slight differences to his under clothes, positioning of the arm, and differences in the cape as well as additional changes to the background.

The work also bears a personal note from the artist on the reverse: Best Wishes to Barry James Gurney
