Also known as: Bill Morris
Birth Place: Carmel-by-the-Sea, CaliforniaBiography:
Morris is one of the pioneer contemporary American glass artists of the 1970s. His work draws from the forms and textures of ancient artifacts, and the native people and folklore of the Northwest coast of America. In 1978, Morris had started his career in glass by joining the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington as a truck driver to pay for his tuition. During his developing years, Morris worked with Dale Chihuly (a co-founder of the Pilchuck School) as his head gaffer. Through the years, Morris had continued to work with the Pilchuck Glass School, as well as establishing his own studio, and has had a presence in well-known private and museum collections. He retired in 2007, and currently residues in both Washington and Hawaii.
