Also known as: Sigi Pineda
Biography:Sigfrido “Sigi” Pineda was twelve years old when he began working for the Taxco silversmith Los Castillo, and became a master silversmith at fifteen, creating some of the most desirable pieces produced at the Taller de Las Delicias. He left two year later to continue his studies of silver making techniques and at nineteen began work at Margot de Taxco’s taller. There he pioneered the enameling process which became synonymous with her name. In 1952, Sigi opened his own workshop, where he developed an organic modernist approach to his designs. Unlike the workshops where he had trained, Sigi abandoned Aztec and Mayan influence and looked to his contemporaries, exploring organic forms.
