Patrick Hughes (British, b.b.1939)
Birth Place: Ashton upon Mersey (Trafford, England, United Kingdom)
In 1964, Patrick Hughes began experimenting with and producing a new art concept to be dubbed "reverspective". Reverspective pieces are 3-dimensional surfaces in which the image that seems the farthest away is infact the closest image to the viewer. His work is heavily influenced by surrealism as well as comic art and overtones of the surrealists Giorgio de Chirico, Rene Magritte, and Marcell Marien are evident in his work. He has written four books pertaining to his art and has taught at the Leeds College of Art in England. Hughes currently lives and works in London.
