Biography:
Nordfeldt immigrated to America in 1891, taking a job in Chicago as a typesetter for a Swedish newspaper. The fourteen-year-old's artistic talent was quickly recognized by his employer who encouraged him to pursue formal artistic training. In 1899 Nordfeldt enrolled at the Chicago Art Institute and later studied in Paris at the Académie Julian with Jean Paul Laurens. From 1917 to 1940, Nordfeldt lived and painted in Santa Fe, where he was elected an associate member of the Taos Society of Artists.
