Dollie Nabinger was an American painter, whose landscapes of the American West and South have become very popular with collectors. Her work is known for its great use of shadow and light. She studied for many years with J.F. McCan, a great landscape artist who was also from Texas. Her painting led her to travel the world, with significant stops in Paris and New York City. She was married to Jack E. Nabinger, who handmade and carved several of the frames that Nabinger used for her work. Her pieces have been exhibited all over the US, including Allen Art Galleries in Houston and several others.

It’s been said that her father even stretched her first canvases so she could paint. At age 13, she was recognized as an artist by J.F. McCan, the famed American landscape artist, and was allowed to work with him as an apprentice. This apprenticeship lasted nearly a decade, and by the time it was over Nabinger would find herself at the Art Students’ League in New York City. She finished her studies at the Academie Julian in Paris in 1955.
