Milo Baughman (American, 1923-2003)
The California transplant born in 1923, started his design career at the age of 13, with his parent’s permission. After WWII, Baughman studied architectural design at the now California Institute of Arts and started Milo Baughman Designs, Inc. at the age of 24. Baughman helped create the California Modern aesthetic while working with the designer Greta Magnusson. This greatly affected his style, and continued designing with the manufacturer Thayer Coggins in 1953. His cool, easy West Coast style is still manufactured to this day by the firm, and they keep true to Baughman’s style and quality of materials.
