Thierry Hermes, of French and German descent, established Hermès in Paris in 1837. The company originally produced harnesses, bridles, and bags for European noblemen, and went on to produce clothing and accessories as the brand increased in popularity. Today, Hermès is known for leather goods, scarves, ties, menswear, women’s fashions, perfume, watches, stationary, footwear, gloves, enamel, decorative arts, tableware, and jewelry.
