Henry Grinnell Thomson (American, 1850-1937)

A student of the Impressionist William Merritt Chase, Henry Grinnell Thomson did not become a professional artist until the age of 35 when he moved from New York to Wilton, Connecticut, and became active in the Silvermine Guild of Artists. He was a regular exhibitor at the National Academy of Design from 1881-97 and at the Society of Independent Artists from 1917 until his death in 1937.
