Biography:
As a young man, Harding became interested in ceramics while excavating ancient Basketmaker Indian mounds in the Big Bend area of Texas. By the early 1950’s his technical findings on the reproduction of lost ancient copper and iron-spot glazes was published widely in trade journals such as Ceramics Monthly. A respected teacher, his own work was shown and collected nationally during his lifetime. Black is now considered one of a handful of influential regional pioneers of the American studio ceramics movement.
