Biography:
Sadamitsu "S. Neil" Fujita was born on May 16, 1921 in Kauai, Hawaii. He began his career as a graphic designer in Philadelphia working at N.W. Ayer. When he moved to New York, he became the director of the art department for Columbia Records, designing album covers that introduced abstract art to jazz packaging. He became best for his covers for CBS Records, and some of Fujita's impressive designs include the Today Show logo, the graphic typeface for Billboard Magazine, and the Shubert Theaters logo. He passed away in October 2010, but his creative legacy continues to influence designers and artists today.
