Dreicer & Co.
Biography:
Founders Jacob and Gittel Dreicer emigrated to the United States in 1866 with an impressive knowledge of jewelry and gemstones that allowed them to begin building their business just a few years after their arrival. Their name was synonymous with quality, and jewelry that compared in quality to the likes of Cartier. As Dreicer and Co., they’d developed an elite clientele with great appreciation for their fine diamond and gemstone jewelry, being among one of the first jewelers to open a shop on Fifth Avenue. Their son, Michael, cultivated an expertise in natural pearls that catered to the American market and made them the leaders in this field. The quality was so exceptional that Cartier purchased their jewelry upon their closure in 1926.
