Brian Hirst Biography
Brian Hirst is a glass artist and printmaker based in Sydney, Australia. He received his Diploma of Arts in Visual Arts from Monash University in 1979 and then received further training as an assistant to renowned Australian glass artist, Nick Mount.
Hirst has had solo exhibitions in Australia, New York, Germany, Japan, and Sweden and his work is in collections all over Europe and the United States. He uses a combination of casting and blowing techniques to create his forms then heavily works over the surfaces with paints and tools. He often brings elements of printmaking to his glass works.
