Biography:
In 1764, King Louis XV of France authorized a glasswork studio in Baccarat, France to produce window panes, mirrors, and stemware. In 1816, the studio began producing crystal. A few years later, Baccarat was commissioned to create crystal for Royalty and Heads of State including King Louis XVIII, Charles X, Franklin Roosevelt, and Czar Nicholas II, becoming an industry leader by 1855. In 1933, Baccarat began producing its first jewelry line using crystal to emulate vibrant gemstones. Due to its delicate nature, intricate and textured gold work is used to wrap the crystal.
