Who is artist Daniel Arsham?
Daniel Arsham is a multimedia artist whose work bridges the worlds of fine art, architecture, fashion, and performance art. Arsham founded Snarkitecture with fellow artist, Alex Mustonen in 2007. Their collaboration has produced several notable architectural and design pieces as well as a line of functional design objects. In 2014 Arsham expanded his oeuvre with the foundation of Films of the Future, a production company that represented a combination of his interests and aesthetics. His first major work, Future Relic, was nine short films that depicted a potential future civilization. This series incorporated his sculptures and other pieces that were used in the multimedia piece.
Arsham is in high demand as an artist. He’s collaborated with Adidas, Dior, Porsche, Toraichi in the commercial space. His pieces have been shown at Ps1, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, The New Museum, Mills College, and several others. He was named one of HypeBeast’s top 100 influencers in 2014 and has remained on that list to this day. He is the winner of the Gelman Trust Fellowship in 2003.

They have contributed art and designs to the Orange Bowl, the Storefront for Art and Architecture, and several others. Recently, Snarkitecture sponsored a scholarship at Arsham’s alma mater, Cooper Union. Arsham’s pieces are often inspired by science fiction, climate change, and found objects.
How did painter Daniel Arsham get started?
Daniel Arsham grew up in Miami, Florida, and was twelve years old when Hurricane Andrew destroyed his home. This event proved to be a continuing theme throughout Arsham’s later work, as he deals with climate change, the future, and natural disasters. He attended the Design and Architecture High School and eventually received a full scholarship to the prestigious Cooper Union in New York City. He was awarded the Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003. After school, Arsham moved to Miami where he created the exhibition space, The House. Through The House Arsham connected with the greater art community including Emmanuel Perrotin, who signed him to Gallerie Perrotin in 2005. He founded Snarkitecture with fellow artist Alex Mustonen in 2007.
