Arnaldo Pomodoro (Italian, b.b. 1926)

Best known as a prominent Italian sculptor, Arnaldo Pomodoro currently operates within the city of Milan. He was originally born in Morciano and has sculpted many popular works of art within Italy. His pieces can be seen in a wide variety of settings, which include prestigious venues like the Vatican Museums and Trinity College in Dublin. He has been awarded with honors from many organizations as well, including the Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award in 2008. This is partially why Pomodoro has managed to draw in international recognition and accolades.

Pomodoro has partnered with many cities throughout the world to present prominent displays of art. He is perhaps best known in the United States for his work with the city of Milwaukee. This was done in collaboration with the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, which produced an impressive crucifix sculpture. Pomodoro has also worked with many other international locations, including Brisbane. His "Forme del Mito" was made for the city during the World Expo '88 event but has been kept near the Brisbane City Hall.

The artist has also gone on to create a wide variety of individual sculptures, which often acted as stand alone projects. His "Sphere Within A Sphere" design has drawn in international acclaim and been put on display throughout the world. He has also created some stylized column designs that can be viewed within the Amaliehaven park area within Copenhagen. This has helped him to cultivate a reputation for offering a wide variety of written works.
