In two parts, the vargueno (upper portion) with drop front, four iron latches to sides, and intricate iron lock to top rim, opening to reveal a palisade of bone-inlaid drawers and cabinets comprising four drawers across the top panel, two cabinets and five drawers to the middle, and five drawers to the lower panel; supported by a taquillon (lower portion), the top rim with two retractable bars fronted by carved shells that accommodate the drop-front desk top with a depth of 23 3/4 inches, two short drawers below with iron toggle pulls, raised on four turned legs with claw feet and stretchers.

Condition Report*:

With significant loss through, especially to the drop front where the iron latches are no longer fully adhered to the surface, scratches, dents and loss along all rims, a large crack down the length of the left front leg, major loss to enameling to the bone components, a visible repair to the center of the desk top.
