This outstanding specimen features a brilliant red gem-quality Ammonite on a black shale matrix. The rock is artistic in its asymmetry and has a contoured shape that is sublime. The fossil is centered nicely on the matrix and features gemmy color over the entire shell of this fossilized mollusk. This fabulous specimen is primarily red in color but also exhibits flashes of greens and golds when lit. The shale matrix is 22.5 inches (57.15 cm) x 15.75 inches (40.01 cm) and the ammonite itself measures 8 x 6 inches (20.32 x 15.24 cm). This fossil comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is a truly fine example of a gem ammonite from this premier locality. The specimen has a custom wooden stand lined with cork for safe display of the fossil.
