PROVENANCE:
Dr. Carlton Palmer, Long Island, New York;
Private collection, San Angelo, Texas.

This work was possibly exhibited in the 1875 Louisville Industrial Exposition as no. 135 in its catalogue, and will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's works which will be published by the Newington-Cropsey Foundation.
Estimate: $150,000 - $250,000.

Re-lined canvas, under UV scattered areas of inpainting lower central region, small area in central region, along edges possible from previous frame abrasion, and in tree in upper central region; areas of possible repairs with corresponding inpainting lower left edge and in sky in upper right quadrant.
